Annapurna Base Camp Classic Trek – 13 Days Journey Through Machhapuchhre Base Camp & Traditional Himalayan

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the most beautiful and rewarding treks in Nepal. This journey takes you through traditional mountain villages, terraced fields, lush rhododendron and bamboo forests, and into the heart of the spectacular Annapurna Sanctuary.

The trail passes through charming Gurung villages, where you can experience local culture, traditions, and the warm hospitality of the Nepalese people. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Annapurna I (8,091 m), Annapurna South (7,219 m), Hiunchuli (6,434 m), and the iconic Machhapuchhre (6,997 m), also known as Fishtail Mountain.

As you ascend toward Machhapuchhre Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m), the scenery becomes increasingly impressive. Surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks, you will feel immersed in one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in the Himalayas.

The trek is moderate and suitable for most walkers with a reasonable level of fitness. Natural hot springs, diverse wildlife, beautiful forests, and unforgettable mountain panoramas make this trek a perfect combination of nature, culture, and adventure.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350 m)


Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, enjoy some free time to relax after your journey or explore the lively streets of Kathmandu. In the evening, you will receive a briefing about your trek and have the opportunity to ask any questions regarding the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing – Boudhanath & Pashupatinath (1,350 m)


Today, discover two of Nepal’s most important UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and an important center of Tibetan Buddhism. Continue to the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal’s most revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Observe traditional rituals along the Bagmati River and learn about Nepal’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. In the afternoon, meet your trekking guide and complete the final preparations for your trek.

Day 3: Kathmandu (1,350 m) – Pokhara (820 m)


Travel by tourist bus through Nepal’s beautiful countryside. The journey follows winding roads alongside rivers, terraced fields, traditional villages, and green hills. On clear days, enjoy distant views of the Himalayan ranges. Upon arrival in Pokhara, stroll along the lakeside and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Nepal’s most popular tourist city.

Day 4: Pokhara (820 m) – Jhinu Danda (1,780 m) – Chhomrong (2,170 m)


After breakfast, drive to Jhinu Danda, the starting point of your trek. Cross suspension bridges over the Modi Khola and begin ascending through terraced farmland, forests, and traditional Gurung villages. Along the way, enjoy your first close views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain). A final uphill climb brings you to the beautiful village of Chhomrong, the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary.

Day 5: Chhomrong (2,170 m) – Dovan (2,505 m)


After breakfast, descend the long stone staircase from Chhomrong to the Chhomrong Khola and cross a suspension bridge over the river. The trail then climbs steadily through lush rhododendron, bamboo, and oak forests to Sinuwa before continuing through the peaceful settlements of Upper Sinuwa and Bamboo. Following the Modi Khola valley, the route passes through dense bamboo forests and beautiful natural scenery, with occasional views of the surrounding mountains. As you gradually gain altitude, the landscape becomes wilder and more remote before arriving at Dovan, a small settlement nestled in the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary.

This is a longer trekking day that allows you to make good progress toward Annapurna Base Camp while enjoying the rich biodiversity of the Annapurna Conservation Area.

Day 6: Dovan (2,505 m) – Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m)


Today's trek gradually leaves the dense forests behind and enters the spectacular upper Annapurna Sanctuary. Passing through Himalaya and Deurali, the landscape becomes increasingly alpine with dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and breathtaking mountain scenery. As you approach Machhapuchhre Base Camp, magnificent views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Gangapurna dominate the horizon. The peaceful surroundings and high mountain atmosphere make this one of the most memorable days of the trek.

Day 7: Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m) – Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m)


A relatively short but unforgettable trek leads deeper into the Annapurna Sanctuary. The trail gradually ascends across open alpine terrain surrounded by towering snow-covered peaks. Upon reaching Annapurna Base Camp, enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Annapurna I (8,091 m), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, Gangapurna, and several other Himalayan giants. The unique natural amphitheater of mountains surrounding the base camp creates one of the most impressive mountain settings in Nepal.

Day 8: Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) – Bamboo (2,335 m)


Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Annapurna massif, as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the surrounding peaks. After enjoying the incredible scenery and taking photographs, begin the descent back through Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali, Himalaya, and Dovan. The return journey offers different perspectives of the mountains and valleys before reaching Bamboo for the night.

Day 9: Bamboo (2,335 m) – Jhinu Danda (1,780 m)


Descend through beautiful bamboo and rhododendron forests before climbing briefly to Sinuwa and Chhomrong. After crossing the suspension bridge over the Chhomrong Khola, continue downhill to Jhinu Danda. This charming village is famous for its natural hot springs located beside the Modi Khola River, where trekkers can relax and soothe their muscles after several days in the mountains.

Day 10: Jhinu Danda (1,780 m) – Tolka (1,700 m)


Cross suspension bridges and walk through beautiful Gurung villages, terraced fields, and forested hillsides. The trail offers a wonderful opportunity to experience local mountain life while enjoying pleasant views of the surrounding valleys and hills. Continue through traditional settlements before reaching the peaceful village of Tolka.

Day 11: Tolka (1,700 m) – Dhampus (1,650 m) – Pokhara (820 m)


Follow a scenic ridge trail through Deurali and Pothana, enjoying magnificent panoramic views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and Lamjung Himal. Continue to the traditional Gurung village of Dhampus, one of the best viewpoints in the region. After taking in the final mountain scenery, descend to Phedi and drive back to Pokhara.

Day 13: Final Departure from Kathmandu (1,350 m)


According to your international flight schedule, transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure.
